On 5 August 2026, Changi General Hospital (CGH) and Moringa Ventures brought together clinicians, founders, investors, healthcare leaders, researchers, and ecosystem partners for Momentum For Healthcare: Launch Day at CGH.

The event marked the formal commencement of collaborations between CGH clinicians and five selected startup teams: Kinara Vision Technology, Leaksenze, OncoRes Medical, PEEK by Equitable Technologies, and TriSail Medical.

Momentum For Healthcare is a clinical validation programme jointly developed by CGH and Moringa Ventures to help deeptech startups validate, refine, and prepare their solutions for deployment in real healthcare settings.

Speaking at the launch, Theodora Lai, Co-founder and Partner of Moringa Ventures, highlighted the importance of bringing different parts of the healthcare innovation ecosystem together:

“The next generation of healthcare companies will not be built by technology alone, or by healthcare institutions alone. They will be built where clinical need, technical ingenuity, operational discipline and patient capital come together.”

This is the beginning of a shared journey to translate promising healthcare technologies into solutions that can address clearly defined clinical needs and fit meaningfully into care delivery.

Unlocking the Next 100x in Healthcare

Launch Day featured a fireside chat on “Unlocking the Next 100x in Healthcare,” moderated by Theodora Lai, Co-founder and Partner of Moringa Ventures. She was joined by Clin Prof Ng Kee Chong, CEO of Changi General Hospital, and Dr Charlene Liew, Director of Cardiothoracic Imaging and Director of the AI Office at CGH.

The conversation explored a bigger question: what could unlock the next step change in healthcare?

The panellists discussed which unmet healthcare challenges innovators should prioritise, how technology can create measurable improvements in care, and what it takes for founders and healthcare institutions to build and deploy solutions together.

Clin Prof Ng highlighted the opportunity for technology to support healthcare professionals by taking on repetitive work while preserving the human connection at the heart of care:

“Machines and AI can help us do some of the repetitive work, allowing healthcare providers to spend more time looking patients in the eyes and giving the care and compassion that is the basic purpose of healthcare.”

Drawing on CGH’s experience deploying AI in clinical settings, Dr Liew underscored the importance of measuring real-world outcomes rather than stopping at experimentation:

“We want to be very sure that we are data-driven, so that we know what outcomes we expect and whether we meet those targets.”

She shared that a chest X-ray AI model deployed at CGH had demonstrated up to a 70% reduction in reporting time for cases with urgent findings, illustrating how carefully implemented technology can translate into measurable clinical impact.

Across the conversation, the panel reinforced that successful healthcare innovation requires more than strong technology. Founders must begin with a clearly defined unmet need, understand how their solution fits into clinical workflows, consider implementation and scalability, remain resilient through a demanding innovation journey, and work closely with hospitals to generate meaningful evidence.

Meet the Five Clinician–Startup Teams

The Clinical Pull and Startup Showcase segment placed real healthcare challenges at the centre of the programme. Each presentation began with a CGH clinician outlining a clinical need, followed by the paired startup presenting its proposed solution and approach.

Clinical Director, Complex Anterior Segment Service; Deputy Head and Senior Consultant, SNEC Eye Clinic @ CGH
Dr Yap has dual subspecialty expertise in glaucoma and complex anterior segment surgery.

Team: Kinara Vision Technology

Kinara Vision Technology is developing a first-in-class suprachoroidal microstent for primary angle-closure glaucoma that can be integrated with cataract procedures.

Clinician: Ms Cheng Shu Hua
Senior Nurse Clinician, Wound Healing Centre, Changi General Hospital
SNC Cheng supports the multidisciplinary care of patients with complex chronic wounds.

Leaksenze is developing a smart IV securement patch that uses embedded sensors and wireless alerts to detect infusion leaks before visible swelling and serious complications occur.

Service Chief, SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre; Senior Consultant, Breast Surgery; Director, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships
Assoc Prof Mok specialises in breast cancer surgery, oncoplastic surgery, and minimally invasive endoscopic and robotic techniques.

OncoRes Medical is developing the Elora intraoperative imaging platform to detect residual breast cancer in real time, improve surgical precision, and reduce reoperations.

Clinician: Adj Asst Prof Andrew Kwek Boon Eu
Head and Senior Consultant, Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Changi General Hospital
Adj Asst Prof Kwek specialises in pancreatic and biliary disease and advanced therapeutic endoscopy.

Team: PEEK

PEEK is developing an AI-enabled ingestible capsule for non-invasive, at-home colorectal cancer screening, supported by a streamlined physician review platform.

Team 5

Clinician: Clin Prof Yeo Khung Keong
Chief Executive Officer and Senior Consultant Cardiologist, National Heart Centre Singapore
Clin Prof Yeo is a leader in interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, vascular medicine, and peripheral arterial interventions.

Team: TriSail Medical

TriSail Medical is developing a minimally invasive transcatheter device that simplifies the treatment of tricuspid regurgitation through rapid leaflet augmentation using a single artificial sail.

From Launch Day to Real-World Validation

Following Launch Day, the teams will begin working more closely with their clinician partners to refine their solutions, test assumptions, define validation milestones, and build evidence around clinical value and workflow fit.

The programme is designed to create a structured pathway from clinical need to validation, adoption, partnership, funding, and scale. For founders, this means remaining open to feedback and adapting where necessary. For clinicians and ecosystem partners, it is an opportunity to help shape technologies with the potential to improve patient care and healthcare operations.
